Child support services are free for Wisconsin residents on public assistance. Wisconsin law states the legal father is the man married to the mother at the time of the baby’s birth. All other cases will require paternity testing. Parents can also establish voluntary paternity. Wisconsin child support guidelines state that 17% of the non-custodial parent’s income will be required for one child, up to 34% for five or more children.
